How do I configure the R1 relay on an ATV12 drive to close when the motor is running?
Resolution:
The Altivar 12 (ATV12) drive includes one programmable relay with NO and NC contacts, located on terminals R1A, R1B, and R1C:
- Normally Open (NO): R1A – R1C
- Normally Closed (NC): R1B – R1C
The relay supports both 120 VAC and 24 VDC control circuits.
To have the R1 relay indicate that the motor is running, configure the relay as follows:
- Navigate to:
COnF → FULL → I_O- → r1 - Set the r1 parameter to rUn (Run status).
When the drive is supplying output voltage to the motor (motor running), the R1A–R1C normally open contact will close.
For additional details, refer to the ATV12 User Manual (BBV28581).
