Caution Regarding Powering Off ATV31’s Connected To an STB Island

Issue

Users should be aware of a restriction when ATV31s are used as enhanced CANopen devices in an Advantys STB island configuration.

Product Line
Advantys, STB

Resolution

If no I/O modules are in the island and a single ATV31 is connected to the STBXBE2100 CANopen Extension Module, removing power to the ATV31 will cause the island NIM to enter fatal error. A power cycle of the NIM is required for it to recover
At least one module is required to be operating in the island and provide a heartbeat response message to the NIM. In this case, the ATV provided that response.

Configuring and adding an I/O module to the island will allow the ATV to be power cycled with no adverse effect on the NIM.
