What is the Syntax of the IN Parameter of the ADDM block used by M340 PLCs when communicating over Ethernet?

The ADDM function block builds a device address string for use with communication blocks like READ_VAR or WRITE_VAR.

The input parameter is:

input ,ADDM, parameter

For addressing a station over Ethernet, IN takes one of these forms:

  • 'Netlink{hostAddr}'
  • 'Netlink{hostAddr}TCP.MBS'
  • 'Netlink{hostAddr}MBS'
  • 'r.m.c{hostAddr}'
  • 'r.m.c{hostAddr}TCP.MBS'
  • 'r.m.c{hostAddr}MBS'
  • 'Netlink{hostAddr}node'

Where:

  • Netlink — the network name set in the Net Link field of the Ethernet channel
  • hostAddr — the IP address of the target device
  • r — rack number
  • m — module position
  • c — channel number
  • node — the Modbus or CANopen node behind a gateway (the gateway itself is identified by hostAddr)
  • MBS — Modbus Server
  • TCP.MBS — TCP Modbus Server
