“OS Missing” displayed on CM4000/PM800 series meter
Issue
The display on a CM4000 or PM800 series meter shows “OS Missing”.

Cause
This behavior is caused by firmware issues. Firmware will need to be reloaded on the meter.

Resolution
*Warning: The firmware utilities listed here can cause permanent damage to your product if applied incorrectly. Before downloading any firmware updates, verify the firmware you are downloading is appropriate for the specific model number of your product. If you have any doubts, contact Technical Support for guidance.

*Warning: Be sure all other software, is not connected to the meter.*

Power cycle the meter and verify that the meter is still displaying the "OS Missing" message. If the message still appears on screen, the latest firmware needs to be uploaded to the meter.

(NOTE: The DLF-3000 firmware upgrade utility, as well as the latest firmware files for the CM4000/PM800 meters will also be found in the above FA237920 link.)

See below for a summary overview of the meter firmware upgrades:

Uploading firmware to CM4000:
  1. Using DLF-3000, download Download system (DL) to the device.
  2. Download Operating System (OS).
  3. Download Language Library (LL) if necessary.
  4. After the download is completed, you will see the meter resetting.
  5. You can verify the new firmware version by selecting "Diagnostics -> Meter Information" from the main menu of the meter display.
Note: If the DL version is up to date, it is only necessary to update the OS firmware.

Uploading firmware to PM800:
  1. Using DLF-3000, download Reset system (RS) to the device.
  2. Download DL.
  3. Download OS.
  4. After the download is completed, you will see the meter resetting.
  5. You can verify the new firmware version by selecting "MAINT -> DIAG -> METER" from the main menu of the meter display.
