How much inrush current can a square D NEMA starter handle?

Issue:
My motor inrush in higher than the continuous current rating of my NEMA starter - how much inrush can the starter handle?

Cause:
Motor inrush is higher than continuous current rating.


Resolution:
Per NEMA the motor starter has to be able 10 times the continuous current on inrush. For example, if the continuous current rating is 9 amps, the NEMA motor starter must be rated for 90 amps of inrush from the motor.
