Can the 5th jaw be removed from standard Five jaw meter sockets for CSED, MP or EZM metering devices?

Typically the presence of the 5th Jaw in most meter sockets, does not interfere with the function of a single phase watt hour meter. At the request of the Local Utility, the 5th Jaw can be removed to provide a 4 Jaw Meter Socket where needed.
NOTE: In the situation where the 5th jaw is removed, the white insulated 5th Jaw control wire must also be removed from the device.
