Issue:
CPT Operating temperature
Product Line:
Control Transformers
Environment:
9070
Cause:
Application
Resolution:
There is no tested lower operating temperature limit but it should not be put it in an environment less than -20°C
The upper limit is defined. The maximum average ambient air temperature cannot exceed a 30°C average (with a 40°C max in a 24 hour period)
Note also: If the average ambient temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius the derating factor is 0.4% reduction of VA for every degree Celsius above 30 degrees Celsius per IEEE C57 12.96.
The IEEE formula that is used to derive the 0.4% factor is only good up to an AVERAGE of 50 degrees Celsius. For average temperatures above that, consult the factory to supply a transformer designed for elevated ambient.
