What is SCF4 on the ATV32 drive and How Can I Troubleshoot It?
Resolution:
The SCF4 [IGBT Short Circuit] fault indicates that the drive has detected a possible fault in one of its power components, such as the IGBT output stage.
Follow these troubleshooting steps:
1. Perform an IGBT Self-Test
- Cycle power to the drive.
- If the fault clears, navigate to the FLT menu.
- Select IGBT TEST and set Strt = Yes.
- Ensure the motor is connected to the drive before starting the test.
- Review and record any test results that do not indicate OK.
2. Test the Drive Without the Motor If:
- The IGBT test completes successfully, or
- The SCF4 fault persists after a power cycle,
disconnect the motor and test the drive independently.
Before running this test:
- Set Motor Control Type (drC menu) to V/F 2pts.
- Set Output Phase Loss (FLT menu) to No.
Run the drive at several speeds and verify that the output phase-to-phase voltages remain balanced.
Warning: This procedure should only be performed by qualified personnel using appropriate PPE and test equipment, as hazardous voltages may be present.
3. Evaluate the Results
If the SCF4 fault appears immediately at power-up or the drive fails the tests above, an internal power component may be damaged. In this case, the drive may require repair or replacement.
