Video: How to replace the contacts in a NEMA size 00, 0, and 1 starter

Are there instructions on how to change the contacts on a Nema starter?

Resolution:

With line and control power completely removed from the starter, you will need to follow the below steps:

1. Remove wiring from both coil terminals
2. Loosen the power plant screws holding the main contactor body together
3. Remove power plant consisting of coil, armature, magnet, and contact carrier with removable contacts.
4. Remove the movable contacts by depressing them down and rotating the contact and sliding through opening on the carrier. At this step also remove the spring and spring guide.
5. Replace contact, spring and guide spring first, guide and contact.
6. Repeat Steps 4-5 for each movable contact
7. Remove the 6 stationary contacts by removing the screw holding them to the base.
8. Re-install the power plant and re-install any wiring making sure to follow your supplied wiring diagram.

Note: Tighten all screws to recommended torque settings shown in attached instruction bulletin.
