What causes an EEP2 fault on an ATV21 or ATV212 series drive?

Resolution:

An EEP2 fault indicates a problem with the drive's internal EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory), which stores configuration settings and operating parameters.

This fault may occur if:

  • The internal EEPROM has failed.
  • Power was removed during a parameter reset or memory write operation, causing data corruption.
  • A data writing error occurred while saving parameters.
  • An issue was detected during auto-tuning, such as abnormal motor current, incorrect motor inductance, or an output phase loss condition.

Potential effects of an EEP2 fault include:

  • Loss of programmed settings
  • Corrupted parameter data
  • Inability to save new configuration changes
  • Unreliable drive operation

Recommended Actions:

  1. Cycle power to the drive and check whether the fault clears.
  2. Retry the parameter reset or configuration procedure if applicable.
  3. Verify motor wiring and conditions if the fault occurred during auto-tuning.
  4. If the fault persists, contact Schneider Electric for further assistance.

Because an EEPROM failure can affect the drive's ability to store and retain critical data, drive replacement is generally recommended when the fault cannot be cleared and proper operation cannot be restored.
