What is the Current Threshold at which the Altivar Process drive trips on SCF3 fault?

Resolution:

The SCF3 fault is triggered when the drive detects an excessive imbalance in the output currents of the three motor phases.

Specifically, the drive will trip on an SCF3 fault when the calculated differential current between the three output phases exceeds 25% of the inverter's nominal current.

When this threshold is reached, the inverter is automatically switched off and the SCF3 fault is generated to protect the drive and motor system.

An SCF3 fault may indicate conditions such as:

  • Motor phase imbalance
  • Output wiring issues
  • Ground faults
  • Motor insulation problems
  • Damaged motor or drive components

If an SCF3 fault occurs, inspect the motor, output cabling, and drive installation to identify the source of the current imbalance before restarting the system.
