What is Macro Configuration on the Altivar 6xx Process Drive?
Resolution:
The Macro Configuration menu allows you to select an application type that best matches your process. Choosing a macro automatically enables the relevant functions and displays only the parameters and menus needed for that application, making configuration easier and more intuitive.
Menu Path: [Complete Settings] → [Macro Configuration]
- Select the application macro before configuring the drive.
- Changing the macro may apply partial factory settings to related parameters.
- Each macro activates application-specific functions and menus.
Available Macro Configurations
1. Generic Pump Control (Default)
Designed for standard pump applications.
Typical functions include:
- PID regulation
- Sleep/Wake-up control
- Pressure and flow control applications
This is the default macro for most pump installations.
2. Pump Level Control
Enables level control functionality:
Menu Path:
[Complete Settings] → [Pump Functions] → [Level Control]
This macro is designed for:
- Tank filling applications
- Tank emptying applications
- Single-pump or multi-pump systems
Key features:
- Automatic start and stop level management
- Optional random level functionality to vary start and stop levels between operating cycles
- Improved system operation and reduced equipment wear
3. Pump Booster Control
Enables booster system control functions.

[Complete Settings] → [Pump Functions] → [Booster Control]
This macro is used to maintain a target system pressure by:
- Controlling the speed of the variable-speed pump connected to the drive
- Automatically staging and de-staging auxiliary fixed-speed pumps based on demand

- Multi-pump pressure control systems
4. Generic Fan Control
Enables fan-specific control functions.
