What are the optimal voltages to utilize the maximum power point tracking of the MPPT80-600?
Issue
Users need to know the voltage range that allows the MPPT80-600 charge controller to operate in its optimal maximum power point tracking range for charging.
Product Line
MPPT80-600 — Discontinued
Note: This information applies specifically to the MPPT80-600 hardware platform. The operating ranges remain valid for units still in service because the device characteristics are hardware-defined.
Environment
Installations where renewable energy (solar) and an XW MPPT80-600 are used.
Cause
Users need the correct PV input voltage ranges to achieve optimal maximum power point tracking performance from the charge controller.
Resolution
The minimum operating voltage for the MPPT80-600 is 195 V.
For optimal maximum power point tracking performance, maintain the PV input voltage between 230 V and 510 V whenever possible.
The controller can continue operating outside this optimal range, but performance is best when the input remains within the recommended window.
Voltage ranges:
- Minimum operating voltage: 195 V
- Minimum starting voltage: 230 V
- Recommended MPPT range: 230 V to 510 V
- Maximum operating voltage: 550 V
- Maximum open-circuit voltage: 600 V
Additional limits:
- Input current limit: 35 A
- Output current limit: 80 A
