Issue:
What could the cause my external device to make a lot of noise, when installed next to an Altivar Process Drive?

Product Line:
Altivar Process Drive

Environment:
All serial numbers for Altivar Process Drive (ATV630, ATV930, ATV650, ATV950, ATV660, ATV960, ATV680, ATV980)

Cause:
Related to noise issues

Resolution:
Noise is typically not generated by the drive but in some cases here are a few things check:
First is grounding. Most all EMI noise problems are result of improper grounding.
[Complete settings] [Motor parameters] [Switching frequency]
- Switching Frequency [SFr] (Increasing may reduce noise but increase heat generated by the drive)
- Noise Reduction [nrd]

NOTE: In the event of excessive temperature rise, the drive automatically reduces the switching frequency
and reset it once the temperature returns to normal.
In case of high-speed motor, it is advised to increase the PWM frequency [Switching frequency] SFr at
8, 12 kHz or 16 kHz

- Check for possible electrical interference from nearby devices
- Check installation cables
Recommend the use of proper VFD or shielded cables in separate conduits. Refer to Installation Manual for Guide Lines.
