What are the digital output characteristics of PM3255 ?

Issue:
Understanding the functionality and configuration options for the digital outputs on the PM3255 power meter.

Product:
METSEEM3255

Environment:
Power metering device configuration and integration.

Cause:
Users need to know the available digital output modes and their applications for alarms, energy pulses, and external control.

Resolution:
The PM3255 power meter has two solid-state relay outputs (DO1 and DO2). These outputs support four operation modes:

  1. Alarm:

    • Output is controlled by the meter in response to an alarm condition.
    • Relay closes (ON) when at least one alarm is active and opens (OFF) when the alarm is cleared.
  2. Energy Output:

    • DO1 can be configured for active energy pulse output.
    • DO2 can be configured for reactive energy pulse output.
    • Pulse frequency (pulse/kWh or pulse/kVARh) and pulse width are configurable.
  3. Disable:

    • Digital output function is disabled.
  4. External:

    • Output is controlled by the meter in response to command 21000.
