Why is the display screen on my Altivar Process Drive blank?

Resolution:

If the display screen on your Altivar Process Drive is blank, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Check the display connection
If the display is remotely mounted, connect it directly to the front of the drive to confirm the display and cable are working properly.

Verify control power supplies
Measure the voltage at the +10 VDC and +24 VDC terminals relative to COM. Both voltages should be present for proper display operation.

Confirm correct communication cabling
If the drive is monitored or controlled via communications, ensure the Ethernet cable is connected to the correct Ethernet port and not mistakenly plugged into a Modbus or HMI port.

Check the DC bus voltage
If Ethernet wiring is correct and the +10 VDC and +24 VDC supplies are missing, measure the voltage between terminals PA and PC at the bottom of the drive:

    • Approximately 650 VDC on a 460 V system
    • Approximately 340 VDC on a 230 V system

Evaluate the control block
If the DC bus voltage is correct but +10 VDC and/or +24 VDC are not present at the control terminals, the control block has failed and should be replaced.

Verify incoming line voltage
If no DC bus voltage is present at PA–PC, measure the line voltage from L1, L2, and L3 to ground to confirm proper input power to the drive.

Determine if the drive has an internal fault
If line voltage at L1/L2/L3 is correct but the DC bus voltage is low or zero, the drive likely has an internal issue. Perform a static check on the inputs to confirm.
