What is the behavior of the FPI if the parameter cross-country fault detection is disabled?

  • This option is used to enable detection of "double" fault currents, i.e. 2 simultaneous phase-to-ground faults on 2 phases and at 2 different locations on the network.
  • In case of double fault on 2 different locations of the network, the 2 directions will be indicated.
  • In all cases this generates 2 phase faults. With this option the cross-country fault alarm will be set in addition to the phase faults.
Note: cross-country fault detections are only available on instance 3 of a zero sequence fault (in ammetric fault detection).
This case should not be confused with what is called "double fault" in France, which is referring to 2 faults in sequence
