What causes an EPF1 [External Error] fault on an ATV340 and how can I fix it?
Resolution:
1. Check External Error Assignment
- Navigate to the Error/Warning handling menu.
- Review the EtF [External Error Assign] parameter.
- If it is set to anything other than “No: not assigned” (default), inspect the assigned input or control bit to determine what is triggering the fault.
2. If EtF is set to “No: not assigned”
The fault is likely due to a communication issue. Common causes include:
- Duplicate IP address on the network
- Incorrect IP address, subnet mask, or gateway configuration
- Fast Device Replacement (FDR) error
- Incorrect drive configuration when using ODVA assemblies 20/70 or 21/71
