How do I program and wire an E‑Stop for an ATV212 (Altivar 212) drive?

Resolution:

To safely integrate an emergency stop (E‑Stop) using a run permissive on the ATV212 drive, follow these steps:

1. Wiring

  • Use a normally closed (NC) E‑Stop contact.
  • Connect the contact between terminals R and P24.
  • This ensures the circuit opens when the E‑Stop is pressed.

2. Programming

  • Set parameter F110 = 0 (assigns the input function).
  • Set parameter F112 = 1 (enables run permissive logic).

3. Operation

  • When the E‑Stop is activated (contact opens), the drive:
    • Removes output power to the motor
    • Displays “OFF”, indicating the run permissive is not active
  • Normal operation resumes only when the circuit is restored.

Tip: Using a run permissive ensures the motor stops immediately when the safety circuit is interrupted.
