Why Does Control Expert DTM update lock up?

After Launching Control Expert the DTM update process locks up at DDCHEHFDT12Main.CFDT12B0.1

Resolution
DDCHEHFDT12Main.CFDT12B0.1 is from an Endress+Hauser DTM. Remove this DTM from Add / Remove programs. After launching CE and updating the DTM library, you can re-install the Endress+Hauser DTM.

The above example is specific to an actual customer incident, but if you look at the information listed in the line where the DTM locked up, if it does not look familiar perform a google search and you should be able to identify which DTM needs to be removed.
