What to consider when creating a Hot-Standby pair in Geo SCADA

Problem:

I need to create a hot-standby pair. I currently have a single standalone server running a Geo SCADA application. What do I need to know about in advance?

Solution:

Below are some items to consider before creating a hot-standby pair:

1. The standby server will need a similar license to the current standalone machine. It should have the same features, drivers and number of points. The number of ViewX or WebX clients may vary between the servers. In addition, both the current standalone server and the future standby server licenses must have the redundancy option included.

2. The licenses need to be applied to both servers prior to the reconfiguration.

3. Both servers need to have the same version of Geo SCADA installed along with the same drivers and driver extensions.

4. Both servers should have similar server configuration applied.
