How does a 2 Stage limit switch like 9007 C66B operate?

The switch contains at least 2 sets of contacts, usually SPDT (single pole, double throw). One SPDT set of contacts, the 1st stage, changes state when the operating lever or actuator completes its pretravel. The 2nd stage will not operate until the actuator moves an additional travel distance. During this additional movement, Stage 1 contacts will remain actuated. As the actuator is allowed to return to its at rest position, Stage 2 will return to its at rest state before Stage 1 returns to its at rest state. See the Digest for specific values for pretravel, Stage 1 and Stage 2 actuation points.
