Why does my Smart UPS Modular Ultra show "Unknown UPS internal error [3B7D-00A0]" on the display?

Issue:

After performing a UPS Firmware upgrade, removing and installing the Intelligence Modules, or when the UPS is booting up from a brains dead, you may see the display show "Unknown UPS internal error [3B7D-00A0]".

Product Line:

Smart UPS Modular Ultra

Environment:

All models, all serial numbers

Resolution:

This specific message occurs when the Redundant Intelligence Module (RIM) is initializing after power up. In later versions of the NMC/Display firmware, the messaging is changed to "RIM initializing, Do not remove MIM".  Please upgrade the NMC/Display firmware to SUCAN 2.5.1.3 to see update messaging.   You can upgrade the firmware by following this FAQ: https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FAQ000261841/
