Issue:
What is a possible cause of getting OCF fault when stopping an ATS48 with a shorting contactor?
Product Line:
ATS48 soft starters.
Environment:
ATS48 soft starters with shorting contactor.
Cause:
Improper control of shorting contactor.
Resolution:
The shorting contactor should be connected to the R2 relay on the soft starter. This relay is dedicated for opening and closing the shorting contactor. Using the R3 relay to control their shorting contactor, and R3 function programmed to RNI (Motor powered) is not recommended for this reason. When sending the command to stop, via an HMI, the starter begins ramping down the SCRs to slow the motor, however, the shorting contactor remains closed.
