What Happens If I Apply Reverse Polarity to SCADAPack 47x or 47xi ?

The SCADAPack 47x or 47xi controller board features reverse polarity protection. This design prevents damage if the power supply is accidentally connected with reversed polarity (positive and negative connections swapped). The device is tested to withstand an over-voltage up to 40 Vdc without foreseeable damage.

It is important to note that this protection is intended for accidental, short-term reversals during installation and not for continuous operation with reverse polarity. The device has specific voltage limits, and applying reverse polarity voltage that exceeds these limits can still cause damage.

Therefore, it is crucial to always ensure correct polarity when connecting power to the SCADAPack 47x or 47xi.
