Which knockout punch size should be used to make a 22 mm push button hole for Harmony operator dialog device ?

1. What you need to know

Use a 22.5 mm (0.885 in) knockout punch. For Harmony XB4/XB5, Ø22 mm pushbutton head, the recommended panel cut-out is Ø22.3 to Ø22.7 mm, with a nominal target of 22.3 mm + 0.4 mm the " 22 mm" in the product name is the nominal size, not the hole to punch.

Recommended tool:

  • Greenlee - 71BB
  • Greenlee - KP-PB22 (includes the anti-rotation notch)

2. Key points

  • Acceptable hole range: panel cut-out is Ø22.3 to Ø22.7 mm.

A 22 mm punch is too small for the head to pass through.

  • Ø22.7 is the upper limit - check whether a worn punch has not oversized the hole.
  • For XB5 / ZB5 plastic heads, the anti-rotation notch is optional because the orientation pin on the collar can be broken off if no notch is provided.

  • The same Ø22.5 mm size is the standard 1/2-inch conduit knockout.
