How can the pop-up message regarding certificate expiration be resolved when using a M241/M251 logic controller for the first time?

When connecting to a M241/M251 logic controller from Machine Expert for the first time, customers could face a pop-up message regarding the certificate expiration.

Due to a random RTC, the certificate’s validity period has already elapsed at the first connection causing the following pop-up message:

M251_ExpiredCertificate

To fix this issue, it is needed to:

  • Update the RTC (Real-Time Clock) by installing the coin battery, if this has not already been completed:

RTC configuration

  • Open the “Security Screen” and go to “Own Certificates”, refresh and delete the certificate in “Yellow” colour:

Security Screen

  • Click “yes” and then power cycle the controller:

Private key deletion

  • After all, the new certificate will be generated:

New certificate
