What can cause an INF31 or INFV fault on the ATV680 or ATV980 Drives?

Resolution:
This fault occurs when the system topology does not match the expected configuration, which can happen if one or more of the following modules are not recognized correctly:

  • AFE (Active Front End) modules
  • Braking Unit(s)

Perform the following checks:

  1. Modulink Connections

    • Check the communication cables between:
      • The main board (Module Link Board / Master Control Block)
      • The AFE modules
      • The braking unit
  2. Termination Resistors

    • Confirm that the Modulink termination resistors are installed correctly.
    • Required value: 120 ohms
  3. CAN Bus Addresses – AFE

    • Verify that the addresses start at 20.
    • Located on the right side of the system.
  4. CAN Bus Addresses – Braking Unit

    • Verify that the addresses start at 40.
  5. Verify the Internal 24 VDC and 48 VDC Power Supplies

    • On models manufactured before November 2022, the drives have independent 24 VDC and 48 VDC power supplies. Verify that the wiring is correct and that both power supplies are active and operating properly.
    • On later models, make sure that the 24 VDC power supply and the X140 distribution terminal block (positions 9 through 12) are properly connected. It is also recommended to measure the voltage level at these terminals to confirm proper operation.
    • Any issue with these power supplies or connections can affect power to the drive's internal boards and trigger the INF31 fault.

After completing these checks, restart the system and confirm that all modules are detected correctly and that the INF31 fault is cleared. If the issue persists, contact Schneider Electric Technical Support or your local Schneider Electric representative.
