Support for .AS1S Files and Compatibility Issues in Easergy Studio

Issue

A project archive file with the extension .as1s is not recognized or cannot be opened correctly in Easergy Studio, or errors occur when importing the file.

Product

MiCOM Px20, Px30, Px40

Easergy Studio

Environment

All versions of Easergy Studio supporting:
.sestudioarch
.as1s

Cause

The .as1s file extension is the former naming convention for .sestudioarch and is still supported by Easergy Studio. Both formats are ZIP-based project archives.

The issue may occur due to cross-platform compatibility problems. If the archive was originally created on a Unix or Mac system and then opened on Windows, differences in file naming conventions—such as the use of dot characters in filenames—can cause parsing or extraction issues within Easergy Studio.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, follow these steps:

1-Extract the archive file

  • Decompress the .as1s file using a standard ZIP utility

2-Review and correct file/folder names

  • Check for file names containing unsupported or problematic characters (such as multiple dots)
  • Rename files or folders if necessary to ensure compatibility with Windows

3-Recompress the project

  • Compress the corrected files back into a ZIP archive

4-Rename the archive

  • Change the file extension from .as1s to .sestudioarch

5-Import into Easergy Studio

  • Open Easergy Studio and import the updated .sestudioarch file
  • The project should now be accepted without errors
