Video: How to add PC-logging to Modbus meters using the MDI

Issue
The user would like to know if data coming from PowerLogic/Modbus meters are being logged automatically in Power Monitoring Expert (PME), and how to add PC based logging to these devices using the Modbus Device Importer (MDI)

Resolution:
*Warning: Take backups of any files prior to modifying them. Ensure the backups are in a location that will not be overwritten (i.e. the Desktop).

While the devices may be built into the system and there are device drivers to support them, the logging is not enabled by default for all parameters.

To modify/configure the logging, access Modbus Device Importer (MDI) from Management Console.
Once Management Console is open click Tools > System > Modbus device importer
Click File > Open > Choose the device driver from the list > Open

Note: You may see the following message statement "This device type cannot be opened by this application." when trying to open a device type in Modbus Device Importer.
If you see that message, this means the device driver is not editable using MDI and may get corrupted when trying to modify.
Please click OK and halt the modification to the device driver.

Click Configure Logging and Calculation and check the values that you want to log by placing a checkmark in the 'Log' column.



Once finished choosing your options Click File > Save > Close the MDI and ION will now be logging the selected values.
