PM8000 and ION 7400 refuses to accept new connections on firmware v1.3.0
Issue
When the meter is configured as Modbus master using the Modbus master modules, the meter can enter a state where it will refuse to accept new Modbus, DNP, ION Protocol, or Ethergate connections over Ethernet. This issue will persist after power cycling the meter, however the other metering functions and serial communications will continue to operate.

Cause
The exact cause is unknown at this time and the hardware team is working to resolve this issue and release newer firmware
Resolution
*Warning: Installation and maintenance of this device should only be performed by qualified, competent personnel that have appropriate training and experience with high voltage and current devices. Failure to follow the instructions / warnings in the Meter Installation Guide can result in permanent damage to the meter, severe injury or death.
For devices that have entered this state:
· Connect to a serial port using ION protocol
· Disable all connections in the Modbus Master Options modules
· Power cycle the meter
To prevent this issue from occurring:
· For applications that require Modbus master functionality, disable all connections in the Modbus Master Options modules and downgrade the firmware to either version 1.2.14 or 1.2.15. Note that this downgrade will remove the IPv6 functionality added in v1.3.0.
· For applications that do not use Modbus mastering, version 1.3.0 can continue to be used as long as any Modbus Master Options modules have no enabled connections.
To disable connections in the Modbus Master Options modules, under the setup registers, the Serial connections should be set to 'None' and all TCP connections should be left blank or 'Enter IP Address'
**Please note there are several later firmware released for the PM8000 and ION7400 by this time. Please upgrade to these newer versions instead when possible. They can be located on the Schneider Website.
