Issue:

Can not import a StruxureWare DCE VM backup into a hardware server.

Product Line:

StruxureWare Data Center Expert.

Environment:

StruxureWare Data Center Expert 7.x VM
Hardware servers AP9465, AP9470, AP9475

Cause:

In versions of DCE prior to 7.2.4, it was possible to back up a VM server and import that backup to a hardware server. There were issues that may occur when this was done but for the most part, it would work.

Since 7.2.4 however, the restore of a VM backup to a hardware server does not work.

Resolution:

Importing a VM backup to a hardware server was never totally supported and the system was not designed to be used in that manner. You can take a hardware backup and assuming you've provided the proper resources for hard drive space and a second NIC, import that hardware backup into a DCE VM.
