What are the main differences between feeder and motor mode with Easergy P3?
Issue:
Need to understand the main differences between feeder mode and motor mode in Easergy/Powerlogic P3.
Product Line:
- Easergy/ Powerlogic P3
- Applies to Easergy/Powerlogic P3 relays that support feeder and motor application modes
Environment:
- Easergy/Powerlogic P3 relay configuration
- Application mode selection
- Protection function configuration
Cause:
Feeder mode and motor mode use different scaling references and enable different protection functions based on the selected application.
Resolution:
- In feeder mode, current scaling is based on the CT nominal.
- In motor mode, current scaling is based on the motor nominal current (Imot).
- Some protection functions appear or disappear depending on the selected mode.
- In feeder mode, feeder-related functions such as auto recloser are available.
- In motor mode, motor-related functions such as motor start-up supervision and other motor protection functions are available.
- Common protection functions, such as overcurrent protection, may be available in both modes, but their settings and scaling are interpreted according to the selected application mode.
- If the expected function is not visible, verify that the relay is configured for the correct application mode.
