What does the sentence "The application must be configured with …. and the boot loader version 50 or later” mean into the SoMachine/Machine Expert - Basic?

This sentence is related to the Data Logging chapter which is a new feature available from SoMachine - Basic V1.6.

Analysis for meaning of  “must”:

M221 has 2 system files:

• a boot loader (version provided by the system word %SW13) which is downloaded only during manufacturing, not possible for a customer
• a firmware: a new file version is provided with each new software release, and can be downloaded by any customer

The strict conditions to be able to create data logging into the SD card is to create an application with a functional level 6.0 minimum AND use a PLC with a firmware version greater than or equal to V1.6.0.1 => It can be achieved with any version of the boot loader.

Limitation when PLC boot loader version is lower than 50: the PLC does not recognize a SD card named DATA as one dedicated for data logging operation, so it does not start in RUN during Power On sequence if the SD card used for data logging is present.

Workarounds for customer implementing Data Logging (out of prototyping phase):
With old M221 controllers (with boot loader version <50), after Power Off, take care to remove the SD card in order to have the M221 going in RUN at the next Power On
OR
Use a M221 controller manufactured from May 2017: it will contain a boot loader version 52
