Why are my ATV340 parameters lost when I cycle power if I've written them over the network?
Parameters lost when power cycling
Product Line:
Altivar 340
Environment:
ALL
Cause:
Programming Wiring
Resolution:
When changing a parameter over any network connection, the new setting is active in the operating memory of the drive (RAM).
When power is cycled the RAM memory is overwritten by the permanent memory (EEPROM) as part of the power up process.
To have changed values permanently saved you must tell the drive to write the RAM memory to the EEPROM. This is done by changing bit 1 of the CMI word from 0 to 1.
The drive will automatically reset the bit to 0 once the save process has been completed.
Caution must be used when writing to the EEPROM in this manner. The memory has a limited number of writes available and if that number is exceeded the drive will experience a memory failure, preventing the drive from operating.
This limitation is also present on other drives although the exact number of write operations may be different. Consult the drive communication documentation for specific details.
