Understanding Overload on APC Surge Arrest
Overload on APC Surge Arrest may occur when the connected equipment's power requirements exceed the maximum power capacity of the surge protection device. This could trip the unit's circuit breaker or the upstream circuit breaker and could drop the load which could lead to potential damage to the surge protector and/or connected devices.
Product Line:
APC Surge Arrest
Environment:
The surge protector's overload indicator LED is illuminated when the unit is loaded 12 Amps and above.
Cause:
- Connecting too many high-powered devices to the surge protector.
- Power spikes or surges causing a sudden increase in power demand.
- Faulty or malfunctioning connected equipment drawing excessive power
Resolution:
- Disconnect all devices from the surge protector immediately.
- Assess the power requirements of the connected equipment and ensure they are within the surge protector's power rating.
- Inspect the surge protector for any physical damage or signs of overheating.
- Reset the surge protector by unplugging it from the power source and waiting for a few minutes before plugging it back in another known good AC outlet.
