PowerChute Network Advanced - HTTPS Port Configuration

Issue

This article describes how to configure the HTTPS port for the PowerChute Network Advanced Configuration Tool. By default, the Configuration Tool operates on the standard HTTPS port 443. If this port is already in use on your system or if you prefer to use a different port, you can change it to an alternative port.

Requirements

• Permission to edit configuration files in the PowerChute Network Advanced installation directory.
• Permission to restart Windows services.
• The desired port must be available and not in use by another service.

Configuration Steps

Step 1: Locate the Configuration File

Navigate to the config folder in your PowerChute Network Advanced installation directory and open the application.properties file in a text editor.

Step 2: Find the Server Port Property

Locate the following line in the configuration file:

# Server HTTPS port

server.port=443

Step 3: Modify the Port Value

Change the port value to your desired port number.

Step 4: Save Changes

Save the application.properties file after making your modifications.

Step 5: Restart the Service

For the configuration changes to take effect, restart the PowerChute Network Advanced Windows service:

1. Open the Windows Services manager (Start → Services, or run services.msc).
2. Locate PowerChute Network Advanced in the list.
3. Right-click on the service and select Restart.
4. Wait for the service to fully restart. When the service has restarted, the PowerChute Network Advanced Configuration Tool can be accessed using a web browser.

Step 6: Update Browser URL

When using a non-default HTTPS port, the port number must be included in the URL when accessing the Configuration Tool Web UI. Use the following format: https://<hostname>:<port>/

Examples:

Port Number           Browser URL

Port 443 (default)   https://localhost/

Port 8443                https://localhost:8443/

Step 7: Update Shortcuts (Optional)

You may want to update Start Menu or Desktop shortcuts that launch the PowerChute Configuration Tool. This can be done by updating the shortcut target to include the new port number in the URL.

The Start Menu shortcut can be found under "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\PowerChute Network Advanced\". The shortcut is named "PowerChute Network Advanced".

The Desktop shortcut can be found under "C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop\". The shortcut is named "PowerChute Network Advanced".

Notes

• Port Availability: Check the port you select is not in use by another service.
• Default Port: Port 443 is the standard HTTPS port and does not need to be specified in the web browser URL. All other ports must be explicitly included in the URL.
