Can I read simple ASCII characters into my Quantum PLC via a Network Option Ethernet module (140NOEXXXXX)?
Causes and Fixes:
No. The quantum Network Option Ethernet modules (140NOEXXXXX) can only accept Modbus TCP/IP messaging. They cannot read in ASCII characters. ASCII messaging can be accomplished either via the 140ESI06210 ASCII interface module or via the XMIT (984LL) or XXMIT(IEC) instruction from Modbus port #1 on the CPU module.
