Can the Connexium log file be used to troubleshoot network issue.
TCSESM Connexium Switch logs usually do not provide enough information to troubleshoot an issue. Typically, assistance from Belden or a Google search the message shown in the log can help understand it's meaning. However, there is not enough information in the logs to help troubleshoot an issue with a Ethernet module.
We normally rely on the network topology diagram and Wireshark traces of the Ethernet traffic going to and from the Ethernet port on the module. Usually, we request a Wireshark trace of the Ethernet traffic before, during and after the issue occurs. The trace should be taken in promiscuous mode using either a hub or mirrored port on a managed switch.
