Issue:
When creating a new configuration for a C3414 based on an older C3413 configuration, the customer reports there is no “Save” or “Save As” option—only “Restore Backup” and “Set RTU Type.” They ask if they must convert the configuration to the latest firmware before editing in the Offline Configurator.
Product:
SAGE RTU Offline Configuration Editor (version 2.1.0.4); SAGE CPU modules C3413 and C3414.
Environment:
- Offline editing of an existing C3413 configuration to target a C3414
- Using Offline Editor v2.1.0.4
- UI shows only “Restore Backup” and “Set RTU Type” (no “Save/Save As”)
Cause:
In the latest revisions of the Offline Editor, changes are auto‑saved on the fly and the explicit “Save/Save As” buttons were removed. When you close the Offline Editor, it finalizes all edits and writes them to the configuration file. The editor also creates a backup of the original configuration file that was opened.
Resolution:
- Proceed with edits normally—the Offline Editor auto‑saves as you work.
- Close the Offline Editor to terminate the edit session and commit all changes to the configuration file; a backup of the original is created automatically.
- Verify persistence: Re‑launch the Offline Editor, open the same configuration file, and confirm that all prior edits are present.
- To target the new hardware, use “Set RTU Type” to change from C3413 → C3414 within the editor.
- No separate firmware conversion step is required just to enable saving; however, ensure the Offline Editor revision you’re using supports the target CPU/firmware. If there are firmware‑specific features, use the corresponding editor revision or consult support for compatibility guidance.
