Why is the Vijeo Designer XBTZG935 USB cable driver not working on Windows 11?

Issue

When trying to download to a HMI via USB cable using Vijeo Designer software on a Windows 11 PC I get the following error message:

XBTZG935 error message

Product Line

Vijeo Designer

XBTZG935 driver

Environment

Windows 11

Cause

Windows 11 introduced new features that are not compatible with the XBTZG935 USB cable driver. One of them being the Hypervisor-Protected Code Integrity. If the system has HVCI enabled and the driver is not compatible with that feature, Error code 39 will be reported by Device Manager to indicate that the driver could not loaded.

Resolution

Disable Hypervisor-Protected Code Integrity using regedit. Here are the steps to do so:

1. Run regedit as admin

2. Locate \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\DeviceGuard\Scenarios

3. Check if “HypervisorEnforecedCodeIntegrity->Enabled” is set to 1

4. Modify the register key “Enabled” to 0

5. Restart the computer and test
