Feature 17 is a terminal provision for remote customer contact to perform a transfer to Emergency. When activated the transfer switch will issue an engine start and transfer to emergency until the input is deactivated. If Emergency fails while on Emergency but Normal is still available the switch will transfer back to Normal.
On Group 5 controllers the contact is to be closed to initiate the test. On Group G controllers and all others controllers the input is standardized to be open to initiate the test. Refer to the transfer switch wiring diagram for confirmation of the operation. This feature is not standard on D frame switches in the 7000 or 4000 Series and instead must be ordered as accessory 17G.
