ATV320: How to create a custom display parameter to display on the Graphic keypad using SoMove

Issue:

Customer wants to display the conveyor speed (meters per minute) on the graphic keypad (VW3A1111) instead of Motor Frequency.

Product Line:

Altivar 320 and Graphic keypad VW3A1111

Environment:

SoMove

Cause:

Instructions in the manual do not show how to do it in SoMove

Resolution:

In SoMove, click on the Device menu and select ATV320 HMI Personalization.

d

From the Personalization window, select the Parameters Tab.

Find the parameter you want to customize.

Note that it may be helpful to collapse the Menus you are not interested in to keep scrolling to a minimum. Do this by clicking the - sign in front of the menu, expand the menu by clicking the +.

d

I want to customize the Motor Frequency so I went to the MON [Display] section and then selected RFR [Motor Frequency]

d

To account for the gearing and unit conversion we have to determine the scaling factor for my system.

At 60 Hz my belt will be running at 26.46 meters per minute so I have a scaling factor of 0.441

60.0 (Hz) x 0.441 (meters/minute per Hz) = 26.46 meters / minute.

I modify the Short label to give my parameter a meaningful name (Conveyor speed)

I change the Units to m/M (3 characters max),

Enter the correct scaling factor and then click Validate

d

Be sure to click OK at the bottom of the Personalization screen to save your settings, and then save a copy of the SoMove file.

If you are performing these steps while connected to the drive, be sure SoMove is synchronized and after the settings are updated, cycle power to the drive or disconnect and reconnect the keypad.

To display the custom parameter you'll need to make changes on the keypad itself.

  1. Press ESC until the Main menu is displayed and then select Menu 3: Interface by pushing OK.
  2. go to Menu 3.3 Display configuration and press OK.
  3. go to Display screen type and press OK.
  4. Choose Digital, Bar Graph or List (Digital and Bar Graph allow the selection of up to 2 parameters, List allows up to 5) and press OK.
  5. Press ESC one time and then go to Parameter Selection and press OK
  6. Scroll through the available list and select any 2(if Digital or Bar Graph) or up to 5 (if List).
  7. After power is applied the drive will briefly display the drive menu selections but will automatically switch to display your chosen parameters.
