Resolution
Please launch your Windows Device Manager and double-check if the Driver is installed correctly.
In the Device Manager, when you plug in the XPSMCMCP0802 via USB cable, look under "Ports (COM & LPT), it should look like this:
If you are seeing an exclamation mark on the left icon or it doesn't show up at all, first try to uninstall and reinstall the software - it should reinstall the driver.
If that does not work, download the driver package independently from here:
https://www.silabs.com/documents/public/software/CP210x_Universal_Windows_Driver.zip
(MD5: a727cbd5e6882e97709cbfc1ba42f4ed)
1) Unzip the file to a location of your choice in your Windows file system.
2) Disconnect the XPSMCM controller from the PC's USB port
3) Then follow the installation instructions inside the text file "CP210x_Universal_Windows_Driver_ReleaseNotes.txt" to install the driver
-> Just right-click the file silabser.inf from the root directory, and click Install
4) Once the installation is completed, connect the XPSMCM controller once again.
5) Retest the connection.
If in the event that (a) the driver works for a while, and then stops after a random time or (b) the driver works intermittently across several computers in the same company network, this could indicate that there is an outside agent like an anti-malware / antivirus software blocking it. With newer algorithmic-based anti-malware/anti-viruses, AI algorithms can be intermittently aggressive and you may need to have your IT put the driver into an allow-list.
