Cause:
ION meter's digital input is connected to trip unit status signals on the trip unit.
Resolution
*Warning: Before making changes, please confirm that the setup for this specific trip unit is a Normally Open condition.
In majority of cases, trip unit normal operating status is when the trip unit is in a normally closed state. There could be exceptions where certain installations operate differently and rely on Normally Open being the state of normal operation
If the trip units are designed to be normally open then you need to change the default Digital Input Setup Register of the meter from Non-Inverting to Inverting
- Log into Designer
- Navigate to the Digital Input Modules where the trip unit status is connected
- In this example this would correspond to the Digital Input 2 Module (DI-S2)
- Change from Non-inverting to inverting
- Now in a Normally Open State=1, the module will invert this value to a 0 which will then not trigger an erroneous Breaker Trip Unit alarm status
