Cause

Users may wish to upgrade their firmware to take advantage of enhancements, bug fixes, or new features. Also, sometimes a firmware upgrade can be interrupted or unsuccessful and these instructions can be followed to remedy the problem.

Typically, these upgrades do not require the device the Network Management Card is installed in to be powered down or cause unnecessary downtime.

Resolution

Download Firmware

• • Navigate to APC Website or Schneider Electric Website and type in your units model/SKU.
  • Find and download the latest firmware file for your unit.

Update Firmware

1. Go to www.apc.com and download the most recent firmware version, apc.fw

2. Extract the apc.fw and copy its contents to the USB.

Note: USB drive doesnt need to be formatted to FAT32 file system. Copy the firmware file only to the USB Flash Drive.

3. Insert the USB drive into the USB port on the Rack PDU.

4. Go to Settings>USB on the LCD display of the Rack PDU.

Note: If USB is not detected, this message will appear.

5. Select Firmware Upload from the menu and select Yes to confirm.

NOTE: The LCD display will show the Firmware update progress. When the update is complete, the Rack PDU will automatically reboot.

6. Remove the USB drive from the Rack PDU.

7. Go to Settings>Device>Firmware to confirm that the firmware uploaded successfully.
