Issue:
When upgrading from an earlier version of Event Notification Module (ENM) to ENM 8.3.3, the installer fails at the step:
Backing up previous historical data
with the error:

Cause:
The SQL Server feature xp_cmdshell is disabled by default for security reasons. The ENM installer uses xp_cmdshell During the backup process, causing the failure when it is turned off.
Resolution:
Enable xp_cmdshell temporarily, rerun the installer, and then disable it again for security.
Steps to Enable xp_cmdshell
- Management Studio** with sysadmin privileges.
- Open a New Query window and run: -- Show advanced optionsEXEC sp_configure 'show advanced options', 1;GORECONFIGURE;GO-- Enable xp_cmdshellEXEC sp_configure 'xp_cmdshell', 1;GORECONFIGURE;GO-- Hide advanced optionsEXEC sp_configure 'show advanced options', 0;GORECONFIGURE;GO
- Close SQL Server Management Studio.
- Rerun the ENM installer.
