Issue
Disabling COM port on ION8650 is desired so no communication can be done through that COM port for security reasons.

Resolution
1) Upgrade firmware version for ION8650 meter to the latest firmware version (Currently V4.40)

2)In ION Setup, in Setup Assistant, navigate to Communications -> Serial Settings. Choose the COM port tab that needs to be disabled. Change the protocol for that COM port to "None."




Changing the protocol can also be achieved fromthe front display of the meter. Go to ION8650 SETUP by holding "ALT/ENTER" button. Navigate to the COM port that needs to be disabled. Click "Enter" on PROTOCOL and change it to "NONE"
