Data Center Expert | Firmware updates are not available within the Firmware Update window after checking for updates?

Issue:
Why does StruxureWare Data Center Expert not have firmware updates available within the Firmware Update window after check for updates?

Cause:
A key feature within Data Center Expert is the ability mass to update the firmware of APC devices. This feature is dependent on the latest firmware version available loaded on the Data Center Expert server. The Expert server relies on HTTPS (HTTP and FTP on older systems) to both navigate to and download the latest available catalog files.

Resolution:

Data Center Expert reaches out to updates.apc.com to obtain the latest available firmware. Using HTTPS to navigate to the URL (HTTP and then FTP on older versions) to download the catalog file. In most cases the reason that Data Center Expert doesn't have the firmwares available is because one or both protocols are being blocked. Generally, opening or adding an exception to a firewall allowing the Data Center Expert server to reach the web corrects this issue.  To manually import the firmware catalog, Data Center Expert | Manually loading APC and NetBotz device firmware for firmware upgrades
