How can we help you today?
Can a short depth SMX Smart-UPS and SMX battery be installed into a NetShelter AR100 or AR100HD?
Issue:
The cord will connect but the rear door won't close. If it's forced closed the power cord can separate from the molded cable end exposing the wires underneath.

Product Line: NetShelter WX, Smart-UPS

Environment:
AR100, AR100HD, SMX120BP, SMX48RMBP2U, SMX750, SMX750I, SMX750NC, SMX750INC, SMX1000, SMX1000I, SMX1500RM2U, SMX1500RM2UI, SMX1500RM2UNC, SMX1500RM2UI2UNC, SMX2000LV, SMX2000LVNC, SMX2200HV, SMX3000HV, SMX3000HVT, SMX3000HVNC, SMX3000HV-BR, SMX3000LV, SMX3000LVNC, all serial numbers.

Cause:
The AC power cord that connects from the battery into the UPS is too deep, it won't connect into the UPS.

Resolution:

The UPS alone will install into the cabinet, no problem. The issue arises when adding the battery. The AC power cord that connects from the battery into the UPS has a molded cable end with a thick power cord. When attached to the battery the cord is very difficult to bend, making it very hard to close the rear of the UPS. If the cabinet is forced closed it may cause enough stress on the cord to pull it out of the molded cable end exposing the wires inside the cord. This is not safe.
We have found hardware that will allow the UPS and battery to install approx 35 mm in front of the front mounting rail. This allows more room in the rear for the AC power cord.
We do not currently offer this hardware.
If a customer wishes to install either the SMX120BP or SMX48RMBP2U into an AR100 or AR100HD they should purchase (8) of the following:
HEX STANDOFF M6 STEEL 35MM, (WURTH ELECTRONICS, part # 971350611 or equivalent)
Please see the attachment showing this installation for a UPS and  battery.
